Sadly,Aristotle'stheoryotbecorreowknowthatthereisheUniverseforobjeovetowards.Weonstrate,bydirectexperimentation,thattherateatwhiobjectacceleratesduetogravityisnotinproportiontoitsmass.Infabeshownthatallobjectsfallatthesamerate.Thisdiscoverywasoohemoderandingofgravity,andsoitbearssomefurtherexplanation.

&hatallobjectsaccelerateuyatthesamerateisnotanobviouso,ifIweretodropafeatherfrommylefthand,andalumpht,Ishouldohittheflooratthesametime.Thelumpettherefirst.Sowhatismeaement‘allobjectsaccelerateuyatthesamerate’?Touhisphrase,wehavetothinkaboutalloftheforcesthatatheseobjects.
